
Mina Fred er internationalt aktiv som kammermusiker, solist og improvisator; stærkt fokuseret på - og med lidenskabelig engagement i - moderne repertoire og kammermusik.
Mina har studeret bratsch på Guildhall School of Music and Drama i London og Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada ved prof. David Takeno samt på Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium i Aarhus ved Claus Myrup, hvorfra hun modtog sin diplomeksamen i 2004 og debuterede fra solistklassen år 2007. I årene 2011–2013 studerede Mina Fri Improvisation på bratsch og stemme ved Hochschule für Musik i Basel, hos Fred Frith og Alfred Zimmerlin, hvor hun modtog en specialiseret Master i
2013.
Hun er alternerende solobratschist i Danmarks Underholdningsorkester og er også medlem af de danske ensembler Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Snowmask Ensemble, Rudersdal Kammersolister samt den Schweizbaserede, improvisations-trio Trio Lost Frequency.
Engagement i løbet af de sidste år inkluderer bl a Sound Ways St. Petersburg, Kontraklang Berlin, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Darmstadt Music Festival, Intonal Festival Malmö, Transit Festival for Contemporary Music Leuven, SporFestival for Contemporary Music and Sound Art Aarhus, Klang Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival and G ((o)) ng Tomorrow København, Fejø Kammermusikfestival, Nordisk Kammermusikfestival og Bornholm Kammermusikfestival, Borealis Bergen, Bergen Festspil; med Danmarks Underholdningsorkester roste koncerter i bl a Musikverein Wien og Liszt Akademiet, Budapest.
I årene 2007-2010 var Mina ansat som solobratschist i Det Jyske Ensemble, Viborg, DK. Mina underviser i bratsch på Orkester Nordens sommerkurser i Lahti, Finland og coacher regelmæssigt workshops i fri improvisation.

Born in Sweden, Mina Fred has studied viola with Claus Myrup at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Århus, Denmark, where she received her diploma in 2004 and furthermore graduated with a Specialized Masters Degree in solo performace in 2007. She has also been a pupil of David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England (2002-2003) as well as at The Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff, Canada (2001-2002). A growing interest in free improvisation led Mina to Basel, where she in 2014 took a masters degree in Free Improvisation at the Hochschule für Musik with professors Alfred Zimmerlin and Fred Frith.
Very active both as chamber musician and solo performer, Mina is performing vastly in the scandinavian countries, and as well internatinally. As a passionate performer of contemporary repertoire and chamber music, Mina is frequently performing at numerous festivals.
From 2007 to 2010 Mina was employed as solo violist in The Jutland Ensemble, Viborg, Denmark. She is currently assistant principal viola of the Danish Chamberorchestra and and solo violist of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen.
Mina teaches viola at Orkester Norden’s summer courses in Lahti, Finland and regularly coaches workshops in improvisation.
